The purpose of this operation is to correct mammary hypertrophy. The intervention consists in the reduction, lifting, symmetry and remodeling of the breast with scars hidden in the natural folds. This operation is required mainly for aesthetic reasons, but also for medical reasons (pain in the neck, back, shoulders, difficulties in sports activities and psychological disorders related to these difficulties).
Mammary hypertrophy is defined as an excess of breast volume that causes disproportion in relation to the silhouette of the patient. This excess volume is often associated with breast ptosis (breast droop) and sometimes with breast asymmetry.
The main principle is to remove the excess of the breasts in relation to the patient's desire while maintaining a volume in proportion to the patient's morphology. The removal of excess skin makes the breast after the intervention look more beautiful, smooth and lifted. In general, the scar is shaped like an upside down T. In cases where the ptosis is slightly visible, only a vertical scar and one around the areola of the breast can be made. This intervention can be performed after the end of growth and at any other moment of life after this period. This intervention does not become an obstacle for pregnancy or breastfeeding, but a minimum time of 6 months should be left after the operation. Breast reduction surgery requires a general anaesthetic, which means you will be asleep during the entire operation. Depending on the case of each patient, 1-3 days are necessary for the hospital/clinic stay.
